Hi,welcome to my blog. I’m Jacqui Jay Grafton
I was born a very long time ago in Northern Ireland and moved to live in Nottingham as a young woman. As quite a solitary child, I read a lot and wrote stories in exercise books, now sadly lost in the mists of time. One of my efforts, The Irish Family O’Grady, won a prize at school. It never occurred to me that everyone knew I had quite happily ripped off The Swiss Family Robinson!
Reading has dominated my life, although my early writing ambitions disappeared in the years given over to bringing up a family and working for a living. Now, in my golden years, I have the time and, happily, the inspiration to write.
My first novel, Circles of Confusion, a gritty social drama, is set in my adopted home of Nottingham and is available as an eBook or a paperback on Amazon. If you’re in the UK, you can find it here. It’s also published for US customers here.
In my current work in progress, Ashes on the Tongue, I have gone back to the 1950s in Northern Ireland.
Now that I have finally embarked on my career as a writer, I realise that I love it just as much as I had hoped when I was that young girl scribbling in exercise books. “I was fortunate to read a pre-release copy of Circles of Confusion. OMG, what a debut! Not only full of tension, but characters you’ll love (or love to hate), and want to alternately cry and root for. I was truly sad to read the last page – I wanted it to keep going. Looking forward to JJ Grafton’s next novel already.”AMAZON REVIEWER
