I began writing my first novel at the age of 76, finally fulfilling an ambition that had been simmering away beneath the surface for more years than I care to remember. Circles of Confusion took one year to write and I self published it in 2020 during the first wave of Covid-19. It’s a fairly dark story of a young woman’s bid to rise above the rotten hand she was dealt in life. Does she make it? I couldn’t possibly say.
“I was fortunate enough to read a pre-release copy of Circles of Confusion. OMG, what a debut! Not only full of tension, but characters you’ll love (or love to hate), and want to alternately cry and root for. I was truly sad to read the last page – I wanted it to keep going. Looking forward to JJ Grafton’s next novel already.” An Amazon Reviewer
My second novel, Ashes on the Tongue, will be hopefully published at in early 2021. It’s set in Northern Ireland in the 1950s and deals with two cousins, struggling to make sense of the sectarian divide and trying to avoid the ever present threat of violence.
For many years, I was an award winning photographer, competing and being published internationally. I have a vast archive of images which I am now offering to authors as a base for their book covers. Every image is unique and will only ever be sold once, so you can be sure no one else will be able to use it.
Check out the photographs and prices. I am adding a few photographs every day so keep checking back or send me a message if you have a particular image in mind. I will almost certainly have something suitable or can adapt a picture for you.
As a very new author myself, I leaned very early on that a good book review can go a long way in helping a reader to decide whether or not they will buy a book. To my dismay, I read that only one in one thousand readers will leave a review.
So here is the third string to my bow.
I will write (and publish) a review for new UK writers – free of charge. Have a look at my review policy to see if I can help you increase your online reputation.
